Olivet Football Defeated by John Carroll in NCAA First Round, 37-12

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio - The Olivet football team (9-2) was unable to get its offense going Saturday afternoon as the Comets dropped a 37-12 decision to John Carroll (Ohio) in the NCAA Division III Football Championship First Round at Don Shula Stadium.

John Carroll (10-1) owned a 13-0 lead after the first quarter before Olivet got on the board in the second quarter with a one-yard touchdown run by Jerome Washington. That would be Olivet's lone points until late in the fourth quarter, as John Carroll scored 24 straight points to put the game out of reach.

Olivet was held to 188 total yards offensively, including just 46 yards rushing. Along with Washington's touchdown run, Olivet's Lane Porter also rushed for a touchdown.

Walter Love III and Thomas Gary-Homes led the Comets defensively with nine tackels, while Chris Womack had an interception, half a sack and five tackles.
