Hope's Brower, Adrian's Parsons Garner CoSIDA Academic All-America Accolades

Two Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association baseball seniors were honored June 5 for their academic as well as athletic success, as Hope College's Landon Brower was named a Google Cloud Second-Team Academic All-American performer by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Adrian's Tommy Parsons was selected as a Third-Team honoree.

A first baseman, Brower saw action in 42 games for the Flying Dutchmen and posted a .315 batting average. The first baseman from Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS) tied for fifth on the team with RBIs and totaled five doubles. In the classroom, Brower held a 3.96 GPA going into his final semester as a Biochemistry & Molecular Biology major. He plans to attend dental school at the University of Michigan.

Parsons is the first Adrian baseball Academic All-America® student-athlete since Matthew Bruder in 1995. At least one Adrian Bulldog has earned CoSIDA Academic All-America® each year since 2015--the first four-year string to make school history. Academically, Parsons owns a 3.38 GPA towards a degree in Business Management. On the field, Parsons was a two-time All-American after posting an 11-0 record with one save and a 1.72 ERA with 109 strikeouts.

The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2017-18 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams.
