Adrian Baseball Ends Season at Midwest Regional

The Adrian baseball team went 1-2 at the 2017 NCAA Division III Baseball Midwest Regional May 18-20 in Whitewater, Wis. to conclude their season with a 34-13 record.

The Bulldogs started the regional with a 5-2 win over St. Thomas in the opening round at Prucha Field, bolstered by a three-run triple from Brian Guck in the bottom of the eighth inning. After the Tommies scored twice in the top of the eighth, Adrian responded with five runs of their own to take the win. Tommy Parsons struck out eight in a complete-game effort on the mound.

On Friday, Adrian came up short in a 7-2 setback to No. 26 Concordia-Chicago, quieting a 3-for-5 effort at the plate by Ian Mikowski; the loss dropped the Bulldogs into the consolation bracket in the double-elimination regional.

Saturday featured wet and cold weather in Whitewater for Adrian's 11-8 loss against No. 19 St. Scholastica. St. Scholastica took the lead first with two runs in both the fourth and the fifth, but the Bulldogs answered with five runs in the following two innings to own a 5-4 lead. St. Scholastica fired back with three in the top of the eighth to regain the lead, only to have Adrian answer with three runs of their own in the bottom half. St. Scholastica then scored four in the top of the ninth and held Adrian in check.
