MIAA Announces Athletes of the Week for Nov. 14

On Monday, the MIAA awarded five weekly honors for standout performances in football, and men's and women's swimming and diving.

Earning MIAA Player of the Week honors for Nov. 14 are:

• Jacob Chittenden, Alma (Football Defensive)
• Damorria Lilly, Olivet (Football Offensive)
• George Fishback, Kalamazoo (Football Special Teams)
• Jake Burris, Albion (Men’s Swimming/Diving)
• Katie Ferrero, Albion (Women’s Swimming/Diving)

Player of the Week


Jacob Chittenden, Alma

Senior, S
Spring Lake, Mich. 

• Had an 85-yard interception return for a touchdown during Alma's 31-27 victory over Adrian Nov. 12, the first win for the Scots over the Bulldogs since 2006

• His interception came in the fourth quarter as Alma rallied late

• Finished with 12 tackles, including five solo efforts; had one tackle for loss of three yards

Player of the Week


Damorria Lilly, Olivet

Senior, RB
Warren, Mich. 

• Helped Olivet to their first outright MIAA title since 1974 as the Comets finished MIAA play undefeated with their 44-27 win over Trine Nov. 12

• Rushed for 203 yards with three touchdowns - all three scores were in the second half as Olivet put the game away late

• Averaged 5.5 yards per rush in aiding Olivet finish with 277 yards on the ground

Player of the Week


George Fishback, Kalamazoo

Senior, P
Grosse Pointe Park, Mich.

• Helped push back field position in 34-17 win over Albion Nov. 12 for their first MIAA win of the season

• Boomed seven punts, averaging 40.4 yards per punt, and a long of 58 yards

• Had three punts inside the 20 and two punts result in fair catches

Swimmer/Diver of the Week


Jake Burris, Albion

Sophomore
Chelsea, Mich.

• Was a two-time winner on the diving board for Albion in MIAA dual meet victory over Kalamazoo Nov. 12

• Re-set his own school record on the 1-meter board, scoring 315.05 to win the event by nearly 50 points

• Already qualified for the NCAAs, won the 3-meter event with a score of 302.05

Katie Ferrero, Albion

Sophomore
Royal Oak, Mich. 

• Was a two-time winner in Albion's 148-89 win over Kalamazoo Nov. 12

• Won both the 1,000 free and 500 free events

• Finished third to help Albion to a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 free, swimming back-to-back events after the 1,000 free event
