The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association named Hope forward David Porte the league’s Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week on Monday for matches through Oct. 4.
Porte, a senior from Mattawan, scored goals in both of Hope’s one-goal triumphs last week including the game-winning score in a 1-0 victory against Trine on Saturday in the 50th minute. He also scored earlier in the week in a 3-2 win over Albion. Porte’s goal in the 52nd minute broke a 1-1 tie shortly after the break. He finished the week with four points on two goals, five shots on goal and nine shot attempts.
