Sammie Averill of Saint Mary’s earned Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Women’s Golfer of the Week honors on Monday for tournaments through Oct. 4.

Averill, a senior from St. Joseph, shot a career-low 77 and was the individual medalist as the Saint Mary's golf team placed second at the Trine MIAA Jamboree on Saturday. 

Earlier in the week, she matched her then-career low with a round of 79 to finish second overall at the third MIAA Jamboree of the season on Thursday. Averill’s finish led the Saint Mary's golf team to its first tournament win of the fall season.
