Dakota Cararo of Adrian claimed Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Baseball Player of the Week honors on Monday for games through April 3.
Cararo, a junior from Gahanna, Ohio, gained position player accolades after a big week at the plate last week. He reached base in every game last week and hit perfect from the batter’s box in three of four contests en route to a .667 batting average. Cararo ripped the game-winning home run in a 2-0 victory over Kalamazoo on Friday – his first round tripper of the year. In a come-from-behind 14-13 victory over Heidelberg to begin the week, he connected on a single, double and an RBI triple to complete a perfect day at the plate. The catcher finished the week with a 1.333 slugging percentage and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage while throwing out two of three runners attempting to steal.
