Ellis Chalfant of Calvin earned Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) women’s lacrosse Player of the Week honors on Monday following tournament games through May 9.
Chalfant, a freshman from St. Louis, Mo., won defensive honors after backstopping a pair of MIAA Tournament wins for the Knights last week. She posted a goals against average of 8.50 while making 27 saves. In the championship win over Albion on Saturday, Chalfant came up with 12 saves including a pair of key stops in the closing minutes on Albion free position attempts allowing Calvin to maintain a one-goal lead. She owned a save percentage of .614 on the week. It marks the second straight week that Chalfant received the weekly honor.
