Clare Theisen, Saint Mary’s, Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week

Clare Theisen of Saint Mary’s collected Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) women’s lacrosse Player of the Week honors on Monday for games through April 3.

Theisen, a sophomore from Downers Grove, Ill., won defensive honors after leading Saint Mary’s in ground balls and caused turnovers last week. She also finished a was a close second for the Belles in draw controls. In a 14-13 overtime victory over Benedictine, Theisen paced the Belles with five ground balls. She also caused two turnovers and won three draw controls. She ended the week with seven ground balls, six draw controls and four caused turnovers while playing midfield defense. Theisen was also active on offense with four goals and an assist to total five points last week. It marks her second Player of the Week honor this season after also winning on March 14.
