Lydia Gildea of Calvin collected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Baseball Player of the Week awards on Monday for games through April 24.
Gildea, a senior from Gobles, won position player honors after setting Calvin’s single-season RBI record during a prolific week for the Knights. In conference play she posted a slugging percentage of 1.333 after cranking three home runs as part of her seven hits. Gildea reached base in every conference game with a walk and seven hits. Overall, she produced at least two hits in each of her final five games last week, including a pair of wins over non-league foe Aquinas, to account for a .632 overall batting average and a .583 clip in MIAA action.
