Kara Eck of Trine earned Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) on Tuesday for meets through April 17.

Eck, a sophomore from Auburn, Ind.., clinched field athlete honors after pair of throws victories and a fifth-place effort at the Indiana DIII Championships last weekend. Her shot put throw of 46-8.25 measured first overall and ranks second nationally this season in Division III. Eck’s hammer throw toss of 169-7 also earned a first-place nod and stands seventh in the country. She also placed fifth in the discus with a distance of 111-3.
