Albion punter Sam Blanzy earned Football Special Teams Player of the Week honors from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association for games through Oct. 4.
Blanzy, a freshman from Grosse Pointe Park, claimed the Special Teams Player of the Week Award. The first-year punter averaged 40.2 yards per punt on five kicks in difficult conditions during Albion’s 21-20 victory at Hope on Saturday. Blanzy forced three fair catches and his 61-yard boot in the second quarter pinned Hope inside its 20 at the 13-yard line.
