MIAA Near Top of   Division III Attendance Leaders

Freeland, Mich. -- In terms of basketball attendance for both men and women, no other Division III athletic conference does it better than the MIAA.

Recently, the NCAA released the attendance rankings for both men’s and women’s basketball. The MIAA ranked second in both men’s and women’s basketball attendance just behind the CCIW and IIAC respectively

Women’s games averaged 436 in attendance per game with a total of 46,237 on the season. The men averaged 874 a game, only 1 person behind the CCIW’s average of 825, with a total of 70,802. 

Hope’s men’s and women’s basketball teams led the way for the conference being ranked first in the nation. It was the 14th consecutive no. 1 attendance ranking for the men, averaging 2,638 per game and 34,300 for the season total. For the women, it marked the 8th consecutive no. 1 attendance ranking, averaging 1,313 and a total of 21,004 on the season. 

Calvin also cracked the top five for men’s and women’s basketball attendance, ranking 4th in the nation for both teams. Calvin’s women averaged 807 per game with a total of 8,069 on the season, while the men averaged 1,433 a game totaling 11,466 for the season.
