Albion College is a nationally recognized residential liberal arts college, dedicated to creating and maintaining a supportive, intellectually stimulating community which exhibits and prizes curiosity, creativity, debate, and diversity. Celebrated for its tradition of academic excellence, Albion has long pioneered innovative programs that meld rigorous study in the arts and sciences with opportunities for pre-professional specialization. Under this model, known as the Albion Advantage, graduates gain the knowledge and skills needed for successful careers and fulfilling lives.
An Albion education is marked by a shared sense of discovery and rich collaboration among faculty and students in the classroom, laboratory, and studio. The faculty has a longstanding commitment to innovation in teaching and to engaging students as active learners. Albion students are multidimensional. They have chosen the College for an experience that will challenge them academically and offer a broad range of learning opportunities in an environment where every student can have an impact. In the past 15 years, Albion graduates have received 12 Fulbright Scholarships, seven National Science Foundation Pre-Doctoral Fellowships, a National Institutes of Health Undergraduate Scholarship, a Goldwater Scholarship, a George J. Mitchell Scholarship, three Udall Scholarships, four RISE/DAAD Chemistry Internships, a Council of Graduate Schools/ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Award, and numerous university-sponsored graduate awards and fellowships.
Beyond the majors, minors and concentrations offered, students have the opportunity to obtain real-world experience and prepare for a career through the Prentiss M. Brown Honors Program, the Gerald R. Ford Institute for Leadership in Public Policy and Service, the Carl A. Gerstacker Institute for Business and Management, the Institute for Healthcare Professions, the Center for Sustainability and the Environment, and the Fritz Shurmur Center for Teacher Development.
In addition to its challenging academic programs, the College’s residential experience builds a sense of community. On campus, the network of student organizations encourages leadership and teamwork. The same organizations have community outreach programs that give Albion students the chance to operate as citizens of the City of Albion. Internships and off-campus programs involve students in regional, national and world citizenship as well.
