No. 8 Hope Women, No. 15 Calvin Men, Finish First at MIAA Cross Country Jamboree

HOLLAND, Mich. – The No. 8 Hope women and the No. 15 Calvin men crossed the finish line first at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Cross Country Jamboree held at the West Ottawa Golf Club on Saturday.

Both squads dominated the field by placing their top five scorers among the first 10 runners to finish the race.  The Hope women won the 6K race with five harriers in the top eight for a total of 26 points.  On the men’s side, Calvin clocked in at 1-2-3 and placed five runners in the top 10 in the 8K event. 

Calvin runners swept first-place honors as junior Zachary Nowicki crossed the line in 25:22 on the men’s side while fellow Knight and classmate Lauren Strohbehn finished the 6K race in 21:43.

The jamboree counts one-third toward the overall MIAA standings. Olivet will host the second and final league race on Oct. 31.
