Five MIAA Men’s Golfers Tabbed NCAA Division III All-America Scholars

A total of five Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) men’s golfers earned NCAA Division III Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar recognition for the 2014-15 season from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Wednesday.

Three Trine University golfers claimed All-America Scholar honors including Corey Bremigan, Connor Dwyer and Brandon Snell. Additionally, Collin Breit and Ben Lanting from Hope College attained Scholar status, marking the second consecutive season the pair earned honors from the GCAA.

A total of 70 male golfers in Division III achieved All-America Scholar status. The MIAA contingent was among 34 DIII Scholars announced on Wednesday in addition to 36 previously released by the GCAA on May 12. Additionally, 206 players in Division I, 91 in Division II and 17 from the NAIA attained the honor. 

Hope and Trine finished in the top two spots at the MIAA National Qualifier on April 25.  Hope won the MIAA regular-season championship and the Flying Dutchmen later finished 23rd nationally at the 2015 NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championship.

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50 percent of the team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 79.0 in Division III and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their institution.
