Albion Men’s Lacrosse Drops Overtime Match in First Round of NCAA Tournament

ALBION, Mich. – Aurora scored on all six of its extra man opportunities, including a goal with 53 seconds left in overtime, to pull out a 12-11 victory over Albion in an NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship first round contest at Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium on Wednesday.

Aurora’s Jason Koziol scored four times and dished out three assists while Trevor McNamara finished with three goals including the game winner. The visiting Spartans never trailed as Aurora built a 4-0 lead early in the second quarter. 

Albion mounted a furious comeback led by Kyle DeCamp winning 13 of 15 face-off battles. The Britons cut the deficit to 9-8 with 14:32 left in regulation.

A pair extra man goals boosted the Aurora lead to 11-8 with 10 minutes left but Albion forced overtime with three scores late in the fourth quarter. 

Zach Hubbell put five points on the deck for the Britons with three goals and a pair of assists, while Dylan Neal finished with three goals and an assist.

Albion’s Cameron Braun reached a milestone in his final collegiate contest as his goal gave him 200 points for his career.
