Calvin Garners At-Large Bid to NCAA Men’s Cross Country Championships

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Calvin men's cross country team placed third at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Saturday with a team score of 122 but the NCAA selected the Knights on Sunday as one of 16 at-large squads that will compete at the Division III Championships next weekend.

No. 24 Calvin finished just behind the Regional automatic qualifiers as Wabash won the men’s title with 99 points and Allegheny placed second overall with a score of 101. 

Junior Zac Nowicki led Calvin by placing fifth individually a time of 25:30 on the 8K course while sophomore Andrew Philipose finished 16th in 25:48. Two of the Knight’s seniors crossed the finish to place third and fourth on the squad as Jeff Meitler placed 25th at 25:59 and Ethan Anderson clocked in at 26:10 to finish 35th overall.

All four runners earned places on the Great Lakes All-Region team by finishing among the top 35. 

The Knights will compete at the 2015 NCAA Division III Men’s Cross Country Championships in Winneconne, Wis., on Sat., Nov. 21.
