Mark DeJong of Calvin claimed the Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week Award from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) on Monday for meets through Oct. 4.

DeJong, a sophomore from Grand Rapids, posted a strong finish for Calvin placing 55th with a time of 25:46 on the 8K course of the Gold Division at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational on Friday. 

As the third Knight to cross the finish line, DeJong helped No. 16 Calvin place 10th overall with 267 points in a strong field of Division I, II and the top-ranked Division III squad, North Central College.
