All-MIAA Women’s Lacrosse Team Unveiled; Albion’s Koolwick and Kalamazoo’s Johnson Earn Player of the Year Accolades

All-MIAA Women’s Lacrosse Team Unveiled; Albion’s Koolwick and Kalamazoo’s Johnson Earn Player of the Year Accolades

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) unveiled its All-MIAA Women’s Lacrosse Team on Thursday in conjunction with the first day of the 2016 MIAA Women’s Lacrosse Tournament.

Albion’s Kadie Koolwick, a senior from Bloomfield, earned Offensive Player of the Year honors after helping lead the Britons to an 8-0 league record and MIAA regular season title. She leads the conference in draw controls per game and ranks No. 7 nationally in the statistic. Koolwick stands second in the league for assists per game and owns third in the MIAA for points per game. The midfielder claimed 2016 MIAA Player of the Week honors on three occasions - twice on offense and once on defense.

Kalamazoo’s Katie Johnson, a sophomore from Okemos, claimed Defensive Player of the Year accolades after helping the Hornets advance to the MIAA Tournament. She owns a 60.7 percent save percentage and a total of 91 saves to rank second in both categories. The goalkeeper ranks No. 35 in the country with 9.93 saves per game and stands No. 38 nationally in total saves at 149.
