OLIVET, Mich. – Ryan Shockey has been appointed to the position of Athletic Director at Olivet College, according to an announcement by President Steven M. Corey, Ph.D. A search has begun to fill Shockey’s former position of head athletic trainer.
“I am thrilled Ryan has accepted the athletic director position,” said Corey. “Over the last two months, he has clearly demonstrated his ability to lead our athletic program into the future and has been an excellent member of the senior team during his time as interim athletic director.”
Shockey joined the Comet staff in Jan. 2013 as head athletic trainer. Prior to Olivet, he served as head athletic trainer at Trine (Ind.) University for six years. Shockey earned a bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Anderson (Ind.) University in 2006 and a master’s in business administration from Indiana Institute of Technology in 2009.
“I am excited to lead the athletic department,” said Shockey. “We have a lot of energy building in our department, and I am excited about the direction we are now headed in. At the end of the day we want to create an environment which breeds enthusiasm and gives our student-athletes the opportunity to excel both on and off the field.”
Shockey lives in Angola with his wife, Katherine, and their three daughters, Isabel, Maeve and Emerie.
