FREELAND, Mich. - Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Commissioner Penny Allen-Cook announced the conference Team GPA Award winners for the 2014-15 academic year on Wednesday.
A total of 77 teams achieved the Team GPA Award during the past academic year. The award is presented to conference teams that achieve a 3.300 or better grade point average for an entire academic year. This award is administered by the Faculty Athletic Representatives of the MIAA member colleges.
The Hope College women’s soccer team achieved the highest team GPA in the conference at 3.720. Meanwhile, Kalamazoo College boasts the most academic team honorees with 13. A total of eight teams earned honors in both women’s cross country as well as women’s tennis to lead all conference supported sports.
This year’s honored teams also include two squads - Calvin women’s cross country and Hope women’s cross country – that attained the award for the 17th consecutive year since the award’s inception in 1998-99.
