Covile of Adrian Garners Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Award

Christian Covile of Adrian earned the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Award on Monday for games through Jan. 31.

Covile, a senior from Westland, averaged 32.5 points per game to lead Adrian to a pair of conference victories last week. The veteran guard tallied a league high 42 points during an 83-76 overtime victory at Olivet on Saturday. Covile scored 29 of his 42 after the break including seven points in overtime to secure the win. He also grabbed 10 rebounds to record his seventh double-double of the season. 

During a 100-63 victory at Kalamazoo earlier in the week, Covile led all scorers with 23 points and snared six rebounds. He also dished out a game-high five assists on the night. Covile scored 15 of his points after halftime on 4-of-5 shooting from the floor and sinking 7-of-8 from the free throw line.

For the week, Covile averaged 32.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. He made 58 percent from the floor on 22-of-38 shooting including 6-of-11 from three-point range. At the charity stripe, Covile drained 15-of-20 attempts for a 75 percent clip. Additionally, he averaged 3.5 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.0 block per contests last week.
