Trine Men's Basketball Volunteers at Steuben County Humane Society

Continuing with tradition over the last eight years, the Trine men's basketball team fills its Thursday evenings early in the fall session to connect with the community and help exercise dogs at the Steuben County Humane Society.

The team takes the chance to walk each dog at least 20 minutes, while some players also assist with cleaning and building dog beds for the facility. Last year, the Stuben County Humane Society opened a new facility and is considered one of the best of its kind in northern Indiana.

In all, the team will volunteer at the facility between six and seven times during the early portion of the academic year before team practice begins in October.

Brooks Miller, coach of the Trine men's basketball team, noted that in years past a few players have connected with the dogs and have gone on to adopt some as pets.
