Olivet Volleyball Signs Shearer as part of Team IMPACT

Lianna Shearer, a 9-year-old from East Lansing, Mich. who is battling cystic hygroma, was signed on as a member of the Olivet volleyball program in September as part of the Team IMPACT.

Team IMPACT is a national non-profit organization that connects children suffering serious and chronic illnesses with collegiate athletic teams. Those teams "sign" the individual to join the program, creating a network of support for the children. Children become a full part of the athletic team; participants attend practices, games, team events, and more.

Lianna is the second child to join the Olivet campus through Team IMPACT; the Comets baseball team became involved with the program earlier this year. In all, five MIAA athletic departments have joined up with eight Team IMPACT participants since 2013.
