Alma College SAAC Connects with Community at Masonic Home, Downtown Alma

Alma, Mich. - The past week was a busy one for many of Alma's athletic programs as some fall teams closed out their seasons while others prepared for the postseason. The season has already begun for some winter sports teams as well. While being active in the gym or on the field, as well as in the classroom, there were many Scots that were out in the community.

Volunteering at Masonic Pathways

For the past few years the Alma College SAAC (Student Athlete Advisory Committee) has been organizing monthly outings at the Masonic Pathways Assisted Living Center. This year they have been meeting the last Friday of every month from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. On Friday (Oct. 26) athletes played pictonary with the residents. In the past they have played balloon volleyball, minute to win it, board games and have done valentine decorating. Some students have been involved with the Friend with an Athlete Program, which matches an athlete with a resident and they go to the Masonic Home weekly to visit them.

Fall Festival

On Thursday (Oct. 25) the annual fall festival was held downtown. A carnival took place as well as trunk-or-treat where many open up the back of their cars to decorate and give out candy to local children. Over 100 Alma College athletes registered for the event.
