MIAA announces venue change for 2019 Indoor Track & Field Championships

FREELAND, Mich. – Due to facility problems at the Calvin College indoor track facility, the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has announced a venue change for the 2019 MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships Feb. 23 to be held in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Aquinas College will serve as the host venue for the MIAA Championship, with events being held at the Alksnis Athletics & Recreation Building. The 70,000 sq. feet venue will host all 10 track events and six field events. Calvin College will remain the host institution for the championship.

"Although the MIAA enjoys showcasing our member institution facilities to host our conference championships, we are greatly appreciative to Aquinas College for allowing us to host the MIAA Indoor Track and Field Field Day at their beautiful facility," said MIAA Commissioner Penny Allen-Cook. "I'd like to thank the Calvin College staff for arranging an alternative venue and Aquinas College athletic director, Nick Davidson, for their willingness to work with the MIAA. We look forward to outstanding performances."

The all-day event will begin at 9 a.m. A complete event schedule will be announced at a later date.
